Dear residents of the Vologda Region, my congratulations on the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War!

May 9, known as Victory Day, is a sacred, deeply emotional holiday in Russia. It is characterized by a "joy with tears in our eyes" atmosphere and with intimate family commemorations for millions who perished.

Vologda Region has joined the patriotic national action of Russia - "Candle of Memory".

On these days, the whole country thanks the heroes for a peaceful sky, and lights thousands of candles in honor of the memory of those who gave their lives for our peaceful future.

On the eve of Victory Day, volunteers distribute black-and-orange ribbons symbolizing smoke and flame.

St. George Ribbon campaign to distribute black-and-orange ribbons - a symbol of the victory in World War II – started in Vologda on April 22nd and last till May 9th. Volunteers distribute black-and-orange ribbons, symbolizing smoke and flame, to be worn on the chest as a mark of memory and respect for veterans.

Kirillov became a capital of  a cultural, historical and  tourism project “Silver Necklace of Russia”.

The decision was made at a meeting of the working group, which was chaired by Lyubov Sovershaeva, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District.

Vologda Oblast is set to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The plan for preparing and holding the main celebratory events in 2026 has already been developed. It offers numerous events, including cultural and sports festivals, exhibitions, historical reconstructions, parades and rallies.

On May 9th Immortal Regiment action will take place in Vologda.

This year sees the 81st anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, and the annual military parade and Immortal Regiment march will take place in the Vologda Region.

Cherepovets City plays host to Days of VOICES Festival on July 2-5.

Since 2010 VOICES has become an essential event for all European and Russian independent cinema lovers. Hundreds of guests and films, dozens of concerts and workshops were welcomed by Vologda and Cherepovets all along these years.

Opening of a Chinese traditional culture museum in Vologda, Russia and a museum of Vologda's cultural heritage in Xi'an, China is scheduled for June 10.

The opening of the museum Vologda's cultural heritage in the Chinese city of Xi'an will be part of a large cultural exchange plan implemented by the Vologda Region Government as part of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Shaanxi Province of the People's Republic of China.
