Vologda Maslenitsa (Butter week) from 16 to 22 February: party like a real Russian!

This year Maslenitsa (Shrovetide) - the week before the beginning of Lent in the Orthodox Church - will run from 16 to 22 February. Maslenitsa signals the exit of winter and heralds the coming of spring.

Production of cow milk breaks records in Vologda Region -  664,500 tons.

Vologda Region has broken the record of 2024 in terms of cow milk production in farms of all categories.

In early 2026, two shipments of glued plywood have been exported from the Vologda Region to Korea.

All products passed the necessary control and fully complied with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the importing country. Phytosanitary certificates for 70 cu m of glued plywood were issued.

During New Year holidays 17,000 tourists visited museums in Kirillov.

From December 31, 2025 to January 11, 2026 the number of people in Kirillov increased significantly. The town with a population of 8,021 people doubled in size. During the winter holidays, about 17,000 guests visited the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Preserve,  a major Russian cultural heritage site.

Over 300,000 tourists visited Vologda Region during New Year and Christmas holidays.

"During the New Year holidays, more than 42,000 tourists visited the region. 270,000 people attended our major cities and sights in one day. Residents of Yaroslavl, Kirov, Kostroma, Arkhangelsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Leningrad regions, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the Komi Republic plunged into the winter fairy tale in the Vologda Region," said Georgy Filimonov, Governor of the Vologda Region.

Vologda Region exported  94 tons of technical fat to Poland in early 2026.

On January 3-10 of 2026, 94 tons of technical fat were exported from the Vologda Region to Poland.
