May 9, known as Victory Day, is a sacred, deeply emotional holiday in Russia. It is characterized by a "joy with tears in our eyes" atmosphere and with intimate family commemorations for millions who perished.

May 1st remains one of the most favorite holidays in our country, the holiday of the working man. The work is fundamental in a person’s life, it gives an opportunity to raise children, to support families, to do good to the society.

Issues of socio-economic development of the region and its legislative initiatives were in the highlight of the discussion. Saving the health of citizens, a complex, multi-faceted challenge was also touched upon.

April 26, 1986 went into history as the date of the world's worst nuclear power plant accident occurred in Chernobyl.

A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov, visited the Vologda Region. 

Easter is the cornerstone of Christian faith, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the victory of life over death. This holiday unites us around eternal values, reminds us of the importance of charity and attention to others.

On April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin, a citizen of our country, orbited the Earth onboard “Vostok” spacecraft for the first time in mankind history, thus opening the era of manned space missions. The first spaceflight lasted 108 minutes.

Cooperation with Africa is important for the Vologda Region. Vologda Region Governor Georgy Filimonov spoke about the experience of developing cooperation with African countries at the 46th meeting of the Foreign Ministry's Council of Heads of Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation.

A large-scale project "Spring in the Russian North" is launched on the initiative of Governor Georgy Filimonov. It will feature thousands events covering different genres and styles of music, crafts and theatre. Over 3000 events have already been held in March.

The Vologda Region Governor and the  Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District held a working meeting.

The Vologda Region and Sri Lanka have outlined promising areas of cooperation, including the supply of mineral fertilizers, woodworking products, tourism development, as well as educational and cultural exchanges.

Theatrical art unites generations. Theatre is a "meeting with a living word" where text becomes embodied in real-time, transforming static words into a living experience.  This is its unique strength and constant value.

My congratulations to all artists, museum and theater workers, teachers and researchers who have devoted themselves to the preservation and development of our cultural heritage.

March 25, Russia celebrates the Day of workers of culture. The corresponding decree was signed in 2007 by President Vladimir Putin.

Georgy Filimonov, Vologda Region Governor held a working meeting with Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation. The opening of a unique cultural project in the Vologda Region - Russia's first Museum of Chinese Traditional Culture was in the highlight of the discussion.

The international campaign “Garden of Memory” was launched in Russia on March 18 and will last until June 22.
