An exhibition of Vologda’s lace kicked off in Tønder on June 2. The exhibition of delicate Vologda lace (over 100 exhibits all in all) is arranged by the Museum of History and Culture of South Jutland (Denmark), the Vologda State Museum-Preserve, the Vologda lace Museum, the Danish Embassy in Moscow and the Russian Embassy in Denmark. It is timed to coincide with the 10th Lace Festival in Tønder. The Lace Festival in Tønder is held every third year. The first festival took place in June 1989.
The festival Voices of History, which emerged in 1991 as a review of the performances of professional theatres in the historical and architectural ensemble of the unique environment of the Vologda Kremlin has long been a hallmark of the Vologda Region, a favourite festival of all theatre-goers. In 2003 it received an international status. The theatre festival is held every two years in June.
