On the night of May 14 to 15, museums across Europe took part in the Long Night of Museums. On this night, local cultural institutions stayed open extra-late to celebrate culture, science, and education.
Vologda’s museums will join the international campaign Night of Museums on 14 May.
The festival is aimed at popularization of folk arts and handicrafts among the younger generation. It will be arranged with an active backing of the Vologda City Administration and a Handicrafts Centre “Reznoi Palisad (Carved Fence)”.
The exhibition in Vologda is organised by the Russian Academy of Arts, the National Museum of Liechtenstein, and "Peace and Harmony" Foundation within the program of events in honour of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Switzerland.

There are 25 botanical gardens in Russia; Russia’s North-West boasts only two - in St. Petersburg (it is one of the oldest in Russia) and Tver. The opening of a botanical garden in Vologda will be a unique event for Vologda City.
This summer Vologda will host several international events, VII Festival VOICES among them.

The Vologda Oblast is receiving the delegation of the Prešov Region (Slovakia), headed by Peter Chudik, the leader of the region's self-government. The main purpose of the visit is to sign a treaty on cooperation between Vologda Oblast and Prešov aiming to deepen the cooperation and discuss perspectives of further cooperation between the Vologda Oblast and the Prešov Region.
