In March Vologda Oblast Government and the Vologda branch of the all-Russian public organization "Russian Geographical Society” will launch a new competition aiming to select treasures of Russian North.

The Governor started his visit with a local library that was renovated not long ago. Oleg Kuvshinnikov inspected the building and communicated with the readers. The Vologda Oblast Governor noted that now it is one of the best libraries of the Vologda Region. It is a venue for numerous cultural events. Nikolsk’s library takes advantage of new technological advancements and provides an on-line archive of the proceedings of some encyclopedias and reference books. It also provides an access to the state services portal.

The international conference “Wooden house-building and wood-processing” is to be held in the Vologda Region for the fourth time. A lot of exhibitors and visitors are expected to come to Cherepovets to attend the exhibition to see the variety of houses made of timber and logs and frame-panel houses.

Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in the Day of the Horse, an annual event that is open to the public and family friendly. The Day of the Horse took place for the 13th time in 2016.

For many centuries the traditional crafts that are steeped in legends and tales have brought joy to the Russians because of their skillfully worked designs. Many kinds of folk arts were brought to perfection in the Vologda Region.

Vologda Oblast Government and PhosAgro, one of the world’s leading producers of phosphate-based fertilizers signed an agreement aiming to establish social and economic partnership and to provide local farmers with mineral fertilizers in 2016.

The All-Russian conference “The Arctic – safety in the territory. Development of the system of comprehensive safety in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation” began its work in Vytegra today.

On February 16 Natalia Kirshina, head of the Museum of Ethnography and Architecture in Semyonkovo, a division of the Vologda State Museum-Preserve was invited to participate in the Big Country program telling about life outside Moscow, events and personalities in the country’s history, the self-organization of regional community, the solution of civil problems and inter-ethnic relations.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, honoured chairman of Russia's non-governmental organization "Russian Geographical Society” Yuri Vorobyov also participated in it.

Deputy Governor started by congratulating the laureates and the entire scientific community on their professional holiday - Russian Science Day, which we marked on February 8.
