The festival Voices of History, which emerged in 1991 as a review of the performances of professional theatres in the historical and architectural ensemble of the unique environment of the Vologda Kremlin has long been a hallmark of the Vologda Region, a favourite festival of all theatre-goers. In 2003 it received an international status. The theatre festival is held every two years in June.

Hermann Alexander Beyeler, owner of the Gallery “Beyeler Collection Foundation” in Pratteln (Canton Basel-Land, Switzerland) presented historical rarities to the Vologda State Museum-Preserve. These are copies of portraits of Alexander III, Emperor of Russia, plates and dishes with his majesty's name deciphered on the items, a posthumous mask of his face and a photo album.
