160 lace-works with images of flowers and plants have already been sent by the participants of the festival. III International Lace Festival VITA LACE will be devoted to ecology and environment.

Bjørn Vidar Solli has won numerous awards throughout Europe, including soloist prizes in Belgium, Monaco and Spain and at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and a composition prize in France.

The International Lace Festival VITA LACE supported by the RF Ministry of Culture was held in Vologda twice – in 2011 and 2014.

On May 23^rd Mr. Kuvshinnikov came to the District of Ustyuzhna that used to be a major metallurgical centre in Rus in the 15th-16th centuries. The visit is organized as part of a series of visits throughout the Vologda Oblast examining economic and social development of regions.

Museum Night which started on the evening of May 20th was the tenth for Vologda. Vologda’s residents and guests to the city used an opportunity to visit all cultural establishments to browse its collections until the early hours of the morning. Visitors were given a common entrance pass which granted them access to all exhibits The Vologda edition of the event was the most crowded over the last ten years.

Russian town of Tot’ma, 400 miles north of Moscow will turn 880 on August 12th. The celebrations will coincide with 205th anniversary of Russian Colony in Fort Ross, California (USA).

The international campaign Night of Museums is timed to coincide with the International Museum Day that is held every year on or around May 18th. It serves as a platform to raise public awareness on the role museums play in the development of society today, on an international level.

On May 18thYuri Bashmet, a Russian conductor, violinist, and violist, and the Moscow Soloists started the Festival Summer project with a concert at the Vologda Philharmonic Society, Vologda City.

Head of the Vologda Region Department of Culture and Tourism presented a tourism project “Silver Necklace of Russia” at a meeting in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Preserve. He told about the main stages of the implementation of the project and guidelines for further development.
