The U.S. Consulate General in St. Petersburg decided to plant American musical seeds in Vologda seven years ago with the help of its Russian partners at the Vologda Oblast Government, Department of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda Region, and the Vologda State Museum-Preserve. The festivals were devoted to bluegrass, blues, Conjunto music, jazz and gypsy jazz.

Museum Night which started on the evening of May 20th was the tenth for Vologda. On this day, also known as International Museum Day, several venues, including museums, exhibitions, historical mansions and parks opened their doors for the whole night. Vologda’s residents and guests to the city used an opportunity to visit all cultural establishments to browse its collections until the early hours of the morning. Visitors were given a common entrance pass which granted them access to all exhibits The Vologda edition of the event was the most crowded over the last ten years.
