Tatyana Watson, granddaughter of Vladimir Bryanchaninov was awarded a medal of the Holy Monk Demetrius Prilutsky at the Sophia Cathedral, Vologda.

Every year Tatyana Watson comes from Australia to visit Bryanchaninovs' country estate, a unique monument of history and culture of the Federal value.

Mr. Kuvshinnikov visited Tot’ma town to congratulate its residents on Totma's 880th anniversary.

The history of Tot’ma is also the story of many outstanding people - seafarers, merchants, poets and artists. One of the oldest in Russia, it is known as a town of museums and seafarers. In the second half of the 18th century, 20 expeditions left from Totma. One of the most important led to the discovery of the Commander Islands and the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska.

Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in the launch of a new glassware production line in Chagoda District.

Today the new glassware production line has been launched at the Smerdomsky glass-works that was established in the district 120 years ago.

Vologda will become ex-libris capital of Russia on August 22-26.

Being the cultural capital of the Russian North, Vologda will host the 6th All-Russian Ex-libris Exhibition on August 22-26. It will feature ex-libris creations from many Russian regions and such CIS-countries as Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia and Kazakhstan. After the congress all the works will be donated to the Vologda Picture Gallery.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in a meeting on ecological protection of the Volga River led by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Volgograd.

On Tuesday, August 8 Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on preservation and rational use of the Volga River. The participants of the meeting discussed construction and modernization of treatment facilities of the Volga River, and preservation of a unique ecosystem of the Volga-Akhtubinsk flood-plain area.

Vologda’s Governor paid a working visit to the District of Babaevo, the oblast's second biggest district in terms of total area.

On August 5 Oleg Kuvshinnikov arrived in Babaevo to congratulate the residents of the district on its 90th anniversary and day of the Railway Workers in Russia.

Participants of the friendship motor rally Berlin-Moscow that started at the Brandenburg gate on July 23 arrived in Vologda.

From July 23 through August 13 about 1000 citizens of Germany will participate in the rally that aims to contribute to the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of both countries.

On August 4th Vologda Oblast Governor paid a working visit to Kharovsk District situated in the very heart of the Vologda area.

The programme of the visit is rather intense. It includes visits to social infrastructure objects, local enterprises, opening of a new fuel sawdust briquette producing facility and, of course, a meeting with the district’s population.
