Deputy Governor Alexei Kozhevnikov met with journalists of the Vologda Region on August 3.

Town of Tot’ma in Russia’s north, Vologda Region will turn 880 on August 12.

One of the oldest in Russia, it is known as a town of museums and seafarers. In the second half of the 18th century, 20 expeditions left from Totma. One of the most important led to the discovery of the Commander Islands and the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska.

Severnye Zory, Vologda’s Folk Music and Dance Ensemble took part in International Folklore Festival in Israel.

Once a year folklore dancers from across the globe transcend upon Israel en masse to perform. The International Folklore Festival in Israel has been continuously held since 1985. Each year folkloric ethnic dance ensembles among the best known and most appreciated in the world are being invited to Israel to a feast of dance, sound and colour. Their performances take place all over Israel.

On July 30-August 6 Teremok, Vologda Puppet Theatre will take part in an International Puppet Open Air Festival "Puppetry Days", Burgas, Bulgaria.

Bulgarian theatres and foreign guests from Eastern Europe will participate in the event in summer 2017. Vologda Puppet Theatre Teremok will present a musical performance “Mishuk, or a fairy-tale about a naughty bear” written by the famous Vologda-born writer Vasily Belov. The performance is popular with kids and adults.

On August 3rd "world car rally" on the route Berlin-Moscow-Berlin-2017 will drive through Vologda.

From July 23 through August 13 about 1000 citizens of Germany will participate in the rally that aims to contribute to the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of both countries.

Vologda will become home to 6th All-Russian Ex-libris Congress on August 22-26.

The 6th All-Russian Ex-libris Congress will feature ex-libris creations from many Russian regions and such CIS-countries as Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia and Kazakhstan. After the congress all the works will be donated to the Vologda Picture Gallery.

A children's technology park "Quantorium" will be open in Cherepovets, Vologda Region on September 6.

The Vologda Region is among 17 entities of the Russian Federation where child science parks will be opened in the nearest future. Last year the RF Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate about one million roubles for construction of child science parks in 17 Russian regions.

The ancient northern city of Veliky Ustyug celebrates its 870th anniversary.

Veliky Ustyug, located in the Vologda Oblast, Russia’s North-West, turns 870 years old. The celebration of the 870th anniversary of its founding began on July 20th. The program included numerous events.
