Vologda has turned 871 and thrown a 3 day party to celebrate.
On June 30 the old Russian city of Vologda turned 871. To celebrate the occasion, Vologda's authorities extended the annual City Day (which falls on the last weekend in June) into a three-day celebration. Numerous events took place at dozens of venues across the city from 29 June to 1July.
RAEX Ranking Agency (Expert RA) made a ranking list of best schools in Russia. The Vologda multi-discipline lyceum and Cherepovets school # 10 joined the TOP best schools in terms of competitive advantage of their graduates.
The festival is aimed at popularization of folk arts and handicrafts among the younger generation. It will be arranged with an active backing of the Vologda City Administration and a Handicrafts Centre “Reznoi Palisad (Carved Fence)”.
A press breakfast was held as part of a series of meetings of Vologda’s journalists with top leadership of the Vologda Oblast Government.

The festival Voices of History has come into being in Vologda in 1991 as the show of performances of professional theaters in historical and architectural environment. The main theme of the festival is "Theatre and History."
