VII International competition for performers on wind and percussion "Northern Rhapsody" came to a close in Cherepovets.

The competition for performers on wind and percussion "Northern Rhapsody" that was held in Cherepovets from April 23 through April 26 gathered about 2000 musicians from Russia, China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Japan.

On May 20, Vologda’s museums are to join international campaign Night of Museums for a night of special events.

On the night of May 20 to 21, museums across Europe will take part in the Long Night of Museums. On this night, local cultural institution will stay open extra-late to celebrate culture, science, and education.

An exhibition "Contemporary Japanese Graphics" has opened in the Shalamov Memorial House, Vologda.

The curator of the exhibition is Andrey Martynov, a collector from Moscow. Exhibitions of his collections of contemporary oriental art have been repeatedly held in the Vologda Art Gallery and have always aroused great interest among visitors.

VIII Russian Folklore Festival "The Village - the Soul of Russia" is to be held in Verkhovazhye District (Vologda Region) on August 4-6. The folklore festival “The Village - the Soul of Russia” has been held in the Vologda Region since 2014.

Vologda will become home to International Folk Crafts Festival “City of Crafts” on June 23-25.

The festival is aimed at popularization of folk arts and handicrafts. It will be arranged with an active backing of the Vologda City Administration and a Handicrafts Centre “Reznoi Palisad (Carved Fence)”.

International Victory Dictation campaign will start in Vologda Region on April 27 for the fifth time.

The event is timed to coincide with the Day of the end of World War II. More than 22,000 sites will be prepared for its holding, in Russia and other states. About 200 venues will open in the Vologda Region at schools, in local universities, museums and libraries.

Prospects of cooperation between Vologda Region and Republic of Uganda were discussed in Vologda.

First Deputy Governor Eduard Zainak met with His Excellency Moses Kawaaluuko Kizige, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the Russian Federation. The parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.
