Overview
Ministry of Economic Development, Industry and Trade of the Vologda Oblast works in accordance with the Clause of the Ministry of Economic Development, Industry and Trade. The Ministry of Economic Development, Industry and Trade is the main local government body responsible for carrying out the investment policy, foreign economic activity, trade and economic relations. It is responsible for co-coordinating the activities of federal and regional executive bodies in relation to foreign investment, domestic and international trade, preparing concession agreements and production-sharing agreements, infrastructure development.
The Ministry of Economic Development, Industry and Trade develops and maintains foreign economic relations for the Vologda Oblast fostering partnerships that increase global visibility, cultural understanding and economic growth.
Within its competence, the Ministry performs the following functions:
- investment activity development;
- scientific and innovative activity development;
- Vologda’s trade and economic relations, as well as economic integration with the Russian regions and foreign states;
- control for liquor market of the Vologda Oblast;
- control for observance of normative and legal documents;
- assistance to enterprises and companies of the Vologda Oblast aiming to participate in international exhibitions, fairs, presentations and any other activities;
- preparation of agreements, contracts, memorandums, minutes of deliberations about foreign economic relations;
- organization of events aiming to attracting foreign investment;
- development of export capacity and provision of wide integration of the region's economy into the national and world economy;
- provision of small- and medium-sized business of the Vologda Region;
- modernization and technological renewal of key industries, localization of production, introduction of modern resource saving techniques;
- coordination in development of investment programs;
- development of the proposals for stimulation of export potential development, optimizing foreign trade and payment balances, carrying out preparation of forecasts for the export of goods (works and services).

The exhibition and fair Firebird 2022. Autumn opened on October 5th. It is Russia’s largest handicraft and folkloristic lifestyle event. Russia’s best handicraft items are presented and sold at the fair, workshops for handicraft lovers and crafts activities are organized. The fair is held twice a year in spring and autumn.
The 31st International Autumn Food and Drink Exhibition WorldFood Moscow is held at Crocus Expo from 20 till 23 September 2022.
The 12th INNOPROM Trade Fair took place on July 4-7. The main subject of the fair and business program was industrial transition - from challenges to new opportunities.
On June 14, leading enterprises of the Vologda Region were able to communicate with Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Azerbaijan Ruslan Mirsayapov and head of the representative office of Russian Export Centre in the Republic of Azerbaijan Nuri Guliyev.
Search for new markets, retail chains and distributors for Vologda's enterprises was in the highlight at the meeting of the local business community with the trade representative of Russia in the Republic of Kazakhstan Andrei Babko.
Ladya is an exhibition for the Russian craftwork. Artists of the whole country take part there presenting the visitors unique and world-famous artworks.
In 2021, Vologda’s producers increased exports of food products and agricultural raw materials by more than 28%. One of the main reasons for it is the increase in the volume of supplies of high added value products, primarily food products and beverages.
The cooperation between the Vologda Region and Belarus in such spheres as economy, trade, industry, agriculture and timber industry was discussed at the 18th meeting of the Joint Commission on cooperation between the Vologda Region and the Republic of Belarus.
The Vologda Region was visited by Gerjan den Hartog, head of Netherlands online retailer VidaXL, and the co-founder of the Netherlands-Russia Centre (NRCE), Vladimir Bongard.
An online meeting of Vologda-based companies with the Trade Representative Office of the Russian Federation and business community of the Republic of Tajikistan will be held on August 12.
