The Council is a permanent deliberative body, established to draft proposals on the implementation of the state policy in the sphere of the forestry sector and forest industry development.

The members of the delegation from Jilin, a province of the People’s Republic of China situated in the central section of China's northeast region are representatives of business circles and top leadership of the province. The objective of the visit is to get acquainted with the economic potential of the region and hold negotiations concerning investment cooperation between China and the Vologda Oblast.

From now on Strasbourg, the parliamentary capital of Europe, will boast a square named after the Russian city of Vologda. The opening ceremony was held on November 3rd on the banks of the Canal du Rhône au Rhin with the participation of Mr. Roland Ries, Mayor of Strasbourg and Mayor of Vologda City Eugeny Shulepov, as well as Consul General of Russia in Strasbourg Alexander Burdin.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev conducted an expanded meeting in the Ivanovo Region concerning the development of the textile industry in Russia. The location of the meeting is not incidental as the economic potential of the region is based on light industry.
