Brief overview of key industries of the Vologda Region
The Vologda Oblast is a highly-developed industrial region, which has a network of transport and energy infrastructure, stable ratings of investment attractiveness and solvency. The basis of Vologda industry is made up of 300 large- and medium-sized enterprises and about 550 small businesses.

The food industry of the Vologda Region is represented by 350 enterprises of various organizational and legal forms producing a great selection of meat and milk products, confectionery, liqueur, non-alcoholic drinks, distilled alcohol, frozen vegetables and fruit, caviar and bakery. About 13,000 people are being engaged at these enterprises.
Representatives of the Finnish Association General Finland, PellonGroupOy, a Finnish manufacturer of milk and meat products, and AgriForest that covers the food industry and the production services and products of the wood-processing industry.
Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov arrived in Moscow to meet with Russia’s Minister of Sport and to brief on implementation of a federal target programme “Development of Fitness and Sport in the Russian Federation in 2006-2015”.
The Coordination Council is chaired by head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Sergei Korneev, the Co-Chairman is Deputy Governor of the Vologda Region Oleg Vasiliev.
On January 24th Russian biathletes won gold medals in the men's relay race at the 2015-16 Biathlon World Cup 6 in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy. The members of the Russian team were Anton Shipulin, Dmitry Malyshko, Yevgeny Garanichev and Maxim Tsvetkov.

Vologda and the USA strive to boost cultural cooperation.
Public Affairs Officer of US Consulate General in St. Petersburg Suzanne Bodoin paid a visit to Vologda, Tot’ma and Kirillov on January 14-16, 2015. During a study tour, Suzanne Bodoin attended the Vologda State Museum-Preserve, the Vologda Lace Museum, the Museum of Architecture and Ethnography in Semenkovo, the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery and the Kuskov Memorial flat.
Victory in the sprint was won by the German Simon Schempp, passing the distance of 10 km in 23 minutes 1.2 seconds, not allowing a single miss. Maxim Tsvetkov was behind the winner in 5.8 seconds (0 misses). The third place was taken by the Norwegian Tarjei Boe (lag to 10.8; 0 misses).
Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov visited the oncological complex to examine the new hospital by himself.
