Vologda will host the 24th International exhibition-fair Russian Wood on December 4-6, 2019.

The Russian Wood, exhibition for innovation technologies to be applied in the timber industry, in production of technological equipment for forestry and manufacture of wood and wood-working articles, will start its work in Vologda on December 4, 2019.

Veliky Ustyug is in the list of Russia's cities that are most popular destinations for New Year holidays, according to a study conducted by TourStat agency. Over 100,000 tourists visited Veliky Ustyug where the residence of Ded Moroz, Russia’s equivalent of Santa Claus is situated.

Fort Ross Dialogue forum will be held in Vologda in spring 2019.

Since 2012 the venue of the annual international forum has always been the Fort Ross California Historic Park, founded by Russian merchants from the Vologda Region at the beginning of the 19th century. Over 5000 Russian and foreign tourists travelled to Ferapontovo to admire the old architecture and wall painting of Ferapontov Monastery during New Year holidays.

The Ferapontov Monastery, a place of great historical significance, is among a small group of Russian cultural sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This honor was bestowed on the monastery primarily as recognition of the early 16th-century frescoes in the monastery's Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin. These paintings are considered among the greatest examples of medieval Russian art.

A documentary about Nilo-Sorsky Monastery shot by Vologda-born director Vladislav Kalashnikov will be shown at Berlin Lift-Off Film Festival on February 4th.

The Nilo-Sorsky Monastery (known as Nilo-Sorsky Pustyn) is located 15 kilometers northwest of Kirillov, Vologda Region. It was founded in the end of the 15th century by Nil Sorsky, a former monk of the monastery and a leader of non-possessors movement in the Russian Orthodox Church.
