Vologda Region Governor opens an ice palace in Sokol.

Construction of a new ice palace in Sokol began in July 2021. The sports complex meets the most modern requirements. The complex includes an artificial ice rink measuring 58 by 26 meters, changing rooms, trainers’ rooms, fitness facilities and other technical and utility areas.
Children and teens will be able to go in for wonderful sports, namely hockey and figure skating, with the help of professional trainers. The centre will also be used for public ice skating. The ice palace gets a state-of-the-art multi-use sports and recreation facility for numerous hockey tournaments, figure skating competitions and and non-ice activities.
According to Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, hockey and figure skating can be named one of the most popular and widespread sports disciplines in the region. “There are more and more ice skating grounds in the Vologda Region, the new ice palace in Sokol will give a new impetus to sports development , become an incentive for new victories and give birth to new Olympic champions,” Governor Mr. Kuvshinnikov said.
