Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, together with his colleagues from the local government, representatives of executive authorities, deputies of the Legislative Assembly, the mayor of Vologda, and schoolchildren planted 77 trees - in honor of the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
To mark 77 years since Victory in Russia and Europe, about 930,000 trees and bushes will be planted in the Vologda Region.
The trees will be planted by volunteers from a number of local organisations and local government staff. Trees will be planted in memory of those who did not return home from the front.
The international campaign “Garden of Remembrance” was launched on March 18 and will last until June 22 of this year. Its organizers are the All-Russian Public Movement “Victory Volunteers” and the Victory Commemoration Fund with support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Federal Forestry Agency. The purpose of the campaign is to plant 27 million trees in memory of 27 million dead during the Great Patriotic War.
