Vologda Region and Kazakhstan to expand economic and cultural cooperation.

The Vologda Region intends to develop cooperation with Kazakhstan in economic, cultural spheres, tourism and other areas. The guidelines for cooperation were discussed during a working meeting of Vologda Region Governor Georgy Filimonov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Dauren Abayev.
Timber industry is one of the guidelines for cooperation. According to Georgy Filimonov, Kazakhstan is among the top four buyers of Vologda’s timber products, their export increased by 34% in the first half of this year. Vologda’s Governor invited Kazakhstan’s partners to the International Forest Forum "Russian Forest" which will be held in Vologda in December.
As for the agribusiness, the Vologda Region is ready to supply cheese, ultra-pasteurized milk and smoothies, canned milk, condensed milk, canned meat and frozen berries to Kazakhstan.
The region is also open for cooperation in tourism. "The Vologda Region boasts over 2,500 cultural heritage sites. The official residence of Ded Moroz in Russia is in the town of Veliky Ustyug, Vologda Region. The residence welcomes visitors all year around, but naturally it is especially popular during the New Year's holiday season. Ded Moroz will travel to Astana this December to congratulate children and fulfill their wishes. We will be glad to strengthen cultural ties and create joint travel products," said Georgy Filimonov.
