Vologda Oblast is to develop partnership ties with the Republic of Armenia.

Today Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with Hrayr Karapetyan, a Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Saint-Petersburg.
Today 2 469 ethnic Armenians are registered in the Vologda Region. There are national associations of Armenians in Vologda and Cherepovets. The Armenian diaspora in Cherepovets is actively involved in the life of the city - it is involved in charitable activities, it provides assistance to orphanages, nursing homes and handicapped children, it is engaged in restoration of architectural monuments and temples.
Vologda’s Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov noted that he is glad that much attention is paid to the development of bilateral relations between our countries. “The Vologda Region is in the top twenty among the subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of volume of industrial production per capita. Every third Russian bearing, every sixth ton of Russian steel, seventh ton of ferrous metal, the eighth ton of mineral fertilizers is produced in the Vologda Oblast", said Mr. Kuvshinnikov.
Today Armenia is not a strategic partner of the Vologda Region. Foreign trade turnover between the Vologda Oblast and the Republic of Armenia amounted to USD 443,000 in 2014. Ferrous metals and food products are delivered to Armenia, and only furniture products are imported to the Vologda Region.
The head of the region noted that such areas as agriculture, food industry and raw materials for food industry, advanced woodworking and metalworking, and manufacture of building materials and timbered house building can be indicated as priority for future collaboration between the Vologda Oblast and Armenia.
