Vologda Oblast and Czech Republic strive to develop partnership ties.

A delegation from the Vologda Oblast headed by Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with a Czech delegation led by Vladimir Remek, Czech ambassador to Russia.
The participants of the meeting held negotiations as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. In the highlight of the discussion were issues connected with tourism development and joint industrial projects.
The Czech Republic remains one of the most reliable trade partners of the Vologda Region. In 2015 the commodity turnover between the Vologda Oblast and the Czech Republic made up 2% of the oblast’s foreign trade turnover.
Czech companies cooperate with such enterprises as Phosagro (Cherepovets) and Vologda Road-Making Machine Plant (Vologda). The Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic and the Vologda Oblast have been sustaining partnership ties since 2005 in such spheres as culture, economy, tourism, education, small- and medium-sized businesses, fair and exhibition activities, firefighting and rescue service. A Czech visa application centre was opened in Vologda. It may increase the flow of tourists between the Vologda Oblast and the Czech Republic.
Mr. Kuvshinnikov said that he was very pleased that the Czech partners supported the establishment of direct flight from Cherepovets to Prague.
To sum up the working meeting the Vologda Oblast Governor invited the Czech partners to come to Vologda on a business visit.
