Year of Ecology is launched in Vologda Region

The first meeting of the local government members chaired by Vologda Oblast Government Oleg Kuvshinnikov was devoted to a plan of events to take place within the framework of the Year of Ecology.
Under the Russian President’s decree 2017 was declared the Year of Ecology and at the same time the Year of Protected Areas. The move is designed to attract public attention to environmental problems, maintain ecological diversity and protect the ecological security of the country.
A comprehensive plan of events to rake place within the framework of the Year of Ecology in the Vologda Region includes:
- construction of facilities for reducing air pollution and surface water;
- development of infrastructure for recycling and safe waste disposal;
- preservation and increase in the number of fauna objects;
- activities aimed at environmental education.
