Vologda Region is stepping up cooperation with Germany.

A delegation from Hannover, Germany is to arrive in the Vologda Region on a three-day duration visit next week. The German delegation representing leading businesses and tourist companies will be led by President of Hannover Hauke Jagau.
According to Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, this visit is very important for the Vologda Oblast as Germany is one of the priority foreign economic partners, and Hannover is a major economic and exhibition centre of the country.
In 2014 the commodity turnover between the Vologda Oblast and Germany made up over USD 233 mln. Germany purchases ferrous metals, wood, wood-working articles, and chemicals in the Vologda region. Germany imports equipment to Vologda.
Vologda’s Governor Mr. Kuvshinnikov was a member of Russia’s official delegation at HANNOVER MESSE 2013 that places a strong emphasis on industrial automation and IT, energy and environmental technologies, power transmission and control, industrial subcontracting, manufacturing technologies, services and R&D.
On a visit to Hannover, Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with Gerhard Schroder. The leaders exchanged views on current issues in bilateral relations. Mr. Schroder and Mr. Kuvshinnikov also defined guidelines for the signing of a package of bilateral documents intended to establish strategic partnership between Vologda’s enterprises and German companies.
The top leadership of the Vologda Oblast is interested in strengthening economic cooperation and further partnership ties between Germany and the Vologda Oblast.
In the course of the visit to Vologda, the German guests will get acquainted with economic potential of the Vologda Region, attend leading enterprises and meet representatives of business circles. In addition to it, they are to hold negotiations with PAO Severstal, one of the largest steel producers in Russia.
