Meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov to discuss the socioeconomic situation and the industrial development in the region.
Construction and modernization of transport infrastructure, double shifting to accommodate growing pupil numbers at schools and the upcoming elections of the head of the region were in the highlight of the discussion.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov updated the President on the stable socioeconomic situation in the region and development trends. The gross regional product has grown from 323 billion rubles to 573 billion rubles over the past seven years.
The share of the industrial production is accounted for the significant part of the gross regional product (GRP) in the Vologda Region. At the same time, the region is actively developing alternative sectors of the economy, projects to support small- and medium-sized businesses.
According to Mr Kuvshinnikov, the region is strongly involved in implementing national projects and social infrastructure projects. The local authorities pay great attention to the creation of a comfortable learning environment in the Vologda Region. Last year, the largest school for 1224 children opened in Vologda City, one more school for 1500 children will be completed this year in Cherepovets. Schools are being built throughout the Vologda Region.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov appealed to Vladimir Putin to support the program of development of the region and back his decision to run again for governor. Vladimir Putin said he would gladly support Mr. Kuvshinnikov in the elections.
