Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in a meeting of the Coordination Council of the Vologda branch of the all-Russian public organization "Russian Geographical Society”. The meeting was held as part of a series of meetings of top leadership of the Vologda Oblast Government with heads of municipalities.
In 2016 the honour to become New Year’s Capital of Russia’s North fell upon Vologda again. The New Year was celebrated in a special way, because every Russian city has its own traditions of celebrating. Vologda’s authorities planned a number of major festive actions and events not only in Vologda, but also in Veliky Ustyug, the hometown of Ded Moroz, Russia’s equivalent of Santa Claus.
This time of year is traditionally a moment for reflection on the events of the past as well as a chance to look forward beyond the festivities of the New Year celebrations.
