The 15th Sochi International Investment Forum that was held from September 29 to October 2 in the Olympic Park Main Media Centre came to a close. This year’s forum attracted more than 7,000 people from 25 countries.
The International Investment Forum in Sochi is a place to discuss issues of international economic development and trends, showcase Russia’s economic potential, and strengthen ties between Russian and international business leaders, experts, and media representatives.
The Forum was held with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
One task facing participants was to find ways to reduce the vast discrepancies in the socio-economic development of the Russian regions and different social groups.
Other topics at this year’s forum were likely to include the development of import substitution and export potential, including in the field of tourism.
A delegation from the Vologda Region was led by Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov. Vologda’s experts took part in a panel discussion “The Export Potential of the Regions: from Discovery to Reality” devoted to expansion of foreign economic ties of Russian regions.
The Vologda Oblast Governor briefed on a trademark "Vologda Made Product". This trademark of staple products produced on the territory of the Vologda Region can be considered an established regional brand.
A system of voluntary certification under the same name "Vologda Made Product" is a sign for clients and consumers that our goods and services focus on quality and are run with efficiency.
Branded food articles produced by Vologda's agricultural enterprises get the highest marks with consumers when it comes to the quality and value. They are delivered to 50 Russian regions, 14 CIS-countries and foreign states.
Another brand of the Vologda Region – ““Vologda Oblast - Soul of Russia’s North” is one of the best in Russia. It was created to unite the inhabitants of the region on the basis of common cultural and historical heritage and to pass over those values to other generations. The new brand presents the Vologda Region as a peaceful and open region where people adhere to family values, keep the Orthodox heritage and traditions, and respect the work and achievements of the human being.
On a visit to Sochi, Mr. Kuvshinnikov also met with Peter Fradkov, CEO of the Russian Export Centre. The parties agreed that a regional centre will be established in Vologda to support exports. There export-oriented companies and entrepreneurs will be able to obtain a range of insurance, credit and advisory services.
The Vologda Oblast Governor also oversaw the signing of several agreements and documents intended to further expand the region’s partnership ties.
Within the framework of the Sochi Forum a protocol of intention aiming to increase cheese output in the Vologda Region was signed between the Vologda Oblast Government and OOO Vologda Cheese.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov also met with RF Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov to thank the minister for support in implementation of several projects - creation of machine-building cluster in the Vologda Region and reopening of “Vologda Textile”.
