Segezha Group is to build a new paper machine in Vologda Region.

Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvsinnikov and Mikhail Shamolin, President of the Segezha group signed a treaty on cooperation within the framework of XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The parties agreed to build a new paper machine at the group’s paper factory in Sokol, Vologda region.
Segezha Group is one of the largest Russian vertically integrated timber holding companies with a full cycle of logging and added-value wood conversion. The company masters new types of products and introduces advanced technologies.
Segezha Group operates in the Vologda Region, and its core business is timber harvesting and the sale of raw lumber. The company has 3 production sites in the Vologda Region, Sokol Pulp and Paper Mill among them. It is one of the oldest pulp and paper mills in Russia.
Segezha Group plans to build a new papermaking machine in Sokol that will improve the sustainability of the paper production cluster. This project is part of Segezha's attempts to modernize paper production at its Sokol factory. It will increase the Group's paper output.
The project will pay considerable attention to environmental concerns and the idea of a circular economy. As such, a modern sewage treatment plant is to be constructed in Sokol. Segezha’s total investment in the project stands at over RUB 15 billion.
The Governor thanked the top leadership of Segezha Group for long-term cooperation and assured that the Government of the Vologda Region will continue to support priority investment projects in the region.
