The Russian Hunting festival was held on the territory of the Museum of Architecture and Ethnography Semyonkovo for the second time.
On the first day, experts took part in the festival - representatives of federal and regional departments, and members of foreign delegations from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India. Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov welcomed the guests and showed them the festival venues.
The festival is organized to promote the traditions of the Russian North and development of event tourism in the Vologda Region. Last year, the festival gathered more than 2.500 visitors.
The main objective of the festival is to tell tourists and residents of the region about the ancient traditions of the Russian North, to attract tourists to the Vologda Region and to expand the tourist flow to our region. This festival allows everyone to learn more about the natural resources of our region.
"Russia is proud of the glorious history of hunting. This tradition is popular nowadays thanks to the hunting enthusiasts. It is obvious that this festival will contribute to the preservation of old hunting traditions. I am convinced that the event will be held in a friendly, welcoming, informal atmosphere. And its rich program will make an indelible impression on numerous participants - both children and adults. It will allow them to get acquainted with the richest cultural and gastronomic heritage of the Vologda Region. And, of course, to immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Russian hospitality," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent a welcome address to the participants of the event.
"The festival is certainly a positive initiative that was unanimously supported by the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources. I believe that the Russian Hunting festival should become an annual and All-Russian event," said Andrey Filatov, Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Field of Hunting of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.
"The Russian Hunting festival which is held in the Vologda Region for the second year in a row, is of great interest, both among experts and among ordinary visitors. It is not surprising - the centuries-old history of Russian hunting originated in the Russian North. I am glad that a large number of foreign guests came to the festival, they admire our northern nature and the skills of hunters. The festival will expand. Today, the Ministry of Natural Resources considers the Vologda Region as a platform for expert forums, where issues of nature management, environmental protection and reproduction of wildlife will be discussed. Every year thousands of tourists will come to our region and learn about the traditions of the Russian North," said Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
Vologda’s residents and guests of the city were able to watch master classes of hunters. During the festival, professional hunters showed the work of greyhounds and demonstrated ways to lure birds and wild animals.
Master classes in archery and contests were arranged for children. The museum houses hosted master classes of traditional folk culture and an exhibition of hunting trophies.
Wildlife photographers and other nature lovers came to Semyonkovo where they were able to get acquainted with hunting traditions. Hunters gave tips to capture great hunting memories on camera. Everyone was able to enjoy the beauty of nature and the animals that live in their nature environment and watch their behavior.
