Republic of Armenia is strengthening partnership ties with the Vologda Oblast.

A delegation from the Vologda Region led by Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov arrived on an official visit in the Republic of Armenia on December 16th.
The main objective of the visit was to establish friendly and partnership relations between the Vologda Region and Armavir, to define guidelines for collaboration. Mr. Kuvshinnikov met with Armavir Region Governor Ashot Kagramanyan.
In April 2016 Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov came to Armenia as a member of the Russian delegation led by Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev. An agreement between the Government of the Vologda Region and the Administration of the Armavir Region on trade, economic, science, technological and cultural cooperation was signed by Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Armavir Region Governor Ashot Kagramanyan.
During the visit to Armenia in December 2017, the top leadership of the Vologda Region and the Armavir Region agreed to continue cooperation and signed a programme of joint actions up to 2021. The focus of the agreement is on cooperation in trade and economic sphere.
The Vologda Region is a highly-developed industrial region, it has an export-oriented economy. For 9 months of 2017 the trade turnover between the Vologda Oblast and the Armavir Region amounted to USD $3,4 mln. The Vologda Region delivers food products, chemicals, machinery, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, timber, pulp and paper products to the Republic of Armenia.
In the course of the visit to Armenia, the Vologda Oblast Governor met with the heads of the leading enterprises in the Republic of Armenia.
Such areas as agriculture, food industry and raw materials for food industry, advanced woodworking and metalworking, and manufacture of building materials and timbered house building were indicated as priority for future collaboration between the Vologda Oblast and Armenia.
Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov noted that Vologda and Armavir have become real friends and both parties will continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Armavir and Vologda regions, between Armenia and Russia.
