Oleg Kuvshinnikov takes oath of office as Vologda Oblast Governor.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov has been inaugurated as Vologda Oblast Governor at a ceremony in the Vologda Oblast Government.
Deputies of the Legislative Assembly, chaiman of the election commission, representatives of the courts and Prosecutor's office, the federal bodies of state power, local authorities, local self-government bodies, political parties, public movements and organizations were invited to participate in the ceremony.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov was declared the winner of the September 14 election, a single voting day in Russia. Acting Governor of the Vologda Region won the gubernatorial election in the Vologda Oblast with 62,98 percent of the ballot after 100% of votes have been counted. He won the regional gubernatorial election with 181 047 votes in his favor after all of the ballots were counted.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov spoke about the challenges of being Governor of the Vologda Region in his September 23 speech, promising to pay extra attention to education, public health care and culture, to support agriculture and forestry, to reconstruct the road network.
On December 14, 2011 Oleg Kuvshinnikov was appointed Acting Governor of the Vologda Oblast under an executive order of the President of Russia. Vyacheslav Pozgalyov, who previously held this position, was released of his duties as Vologda Oblast Governor ahead of term following his resignation request.
Mr. Kuvshinnikov was confirmed by the regional Legislative Assembly as Vologda Oblast Governor on December 28, 2011. He was sworn into office on the same day, December 28, 2011.
On May 15th, 2014 Mr. Kuvshinnikov requested the RF President to be allowed to terminate his mandate early in order to take part in the gubernatorial election that will take place in the Vologda Oblast in September 2014.
