Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan.

A delegation from the Vologda Region led by Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov arrived on an official 3-day visit in the Republic of Armenia on December 16th. The visit of Oleg Kuvshinnikov to the Republic of Armenia wound up with a presentation of economic potential of the Vologda Region and a meeting with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan.
Mr. Kuvshinnikov told the Armenian president about bilateral cooperation between the Vologda Oblast and the Armavir Region of the Republic of Armenia. Since April 2016, after the conclusion of the cooperation agreement between the Vologda Oblast and the Armavir Region, the commodity turnover between the regions has increased almost twice. The parties are interested not only in the increase of foreign trade turnover, but also in development of cultural relations.
The focus of the agreement signed is on cooperation in trade and economic sphere. Such areas as agriculture, food industry and raw materials for food industry, advanced woodworking and metalworking, and manufacture of building materials and timbered house building are also indicated as priority for future collaboration between the Vologda Oblast and Armenia.
During the visit to Armenia in December 2017, the top leadership of the Vologda Region and the Armavir Region agreed to continue cooperation and signed a cooperation programme for 2018-2021. In addition to it, the Vologda Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a treaty on cooperation.
On a visit to Yerevan, Mr. Kuvshinnikov also met with His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. It was stressed during the meeting that Russian and Armenian people are brought closer together by many centuries of history, spiritual kinship, and genuine interest in each other's traditions and customs.
