International Martial Arts Festival was held in Cherepovets on May 18.

The International Martial Arts Festival was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Cherepovets Martial Arts Center and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. China and Russia are two countries with a long history and culture, and the friendly relations between the two countries have a long history.
Georgy Filimonov, Acting Governor of the Vologda Region, took part in the opening of the festival.
The mastery of martial arts was demonstrated by the best athletes of Russia, as well as the monks of the Shaolin Temple Wushu Training Center, Chinese People's Republic. They demonstrated various styles and types of traditional Chinese Wushu weapon and conducted master classes at the Cherepovets Martial Arts Center.
The International Martial Arts Festival covered martial arts such as Karate, Kickboxing, Wushu, Aikido, Kudo, Sambo, Judo, Kobudo, fencing, Kendo and Qigong.
"The Martial Arts Festival is a cultural and humanitarian bridge, a wonderful opportunity for bilateral cultural ties development. We are actively developing our partnership with the Government of the People's Republic of China," said Georgy Filimonov.
Among the honored guests of the festival were Feng Litao, Counselor for Culture at the Chinese Embassy in Russia, and Alexander Povetkin, Deputy Governor of the Vologda Region, Olympic champion.
