The significant event occurred in Vologda - the opening of a new kindergarten. The preschool institution is designed for 350 places. The new 3-storey day care centre will become home for several groups of kids from two and six years of age, and a group for children with speech and language disorder. The new kindergarten is accommodated with musical and sports halls, two sports grounds, and a swimming pool.
The construction of the kindergarten cost RUR 250 million (RUR 191 m was allocated from the federal budget, RUR 59 m - from the city’s budget).
Mr. Kuvshinnikov noted that in Vologda there is a positive trend in the birth rate and population migration. The demand for places in kindergartens is high because many parents want their 2- and 3-year-olds educated in institutions whose sole purpose is education. Vologda’s Governor said that over the last two years the region created 8 new nursery schools (which comes to more than 5000 new spots), and 13 day care centres were renovated.
According to the top leadership of the Vologda Oblast, availability of places in preschool institutions for children from 3 to 7 years old in our region is about 90 percent. By RF President's decree, municipalities are required to guarantee all children at least 3 years of age a spot in a nursery school.
