Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Anatoly Torkunov discussed partnership relations in the educational and scientific spheres.
The Government of the Vologda Region and the top leadership of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry (MGIMO) plan to sign a cooperation agreement at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2022.
Vologda Region Governor Mr. Kuvshinnikov also met with students of the institute and gave them a lecture on modern public administration.
“The Moscow State Institute of International Relations is one of the flagships of the Russian higher education establishments. For many years, it has been training highly qualified specialists in the field of international and foreign economic relations and international law. It is famous in this country and abroad. We’d like students from the Vologda Region to receive such a high level of education and return to the Vologda Region after the study. The Vologda Region is an export-oriented region - over 50 percent of our products are suppled to more than 120 countries around the world. Therefore, first of all we need highly qualified specialists in the field of international law, economics, marketing and sales," Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov stressed.
MGIMO is Russia's most revered educational institution with a wide range of educational programs and specializations.
MGIMO offers 112 degree programs in 17 areas of study: international relations, foreign area studies, political science, law, economics, journalism, advertising and public relations, management, state and municipal administration, business informatics, commerce, tourism, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, linguistics, ecology and natural resource management.
Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov also noted that the Vologda Oblast is interested in cooperation with MGIMO in the scientific field and research projects. According to Mr. Kuvshinnikov, the issues of conservation and rational use of natural resources, the development of environmental education and enlightenment are also urgent.
At a meeting with students Oleg Kuvshinnikov told about the peculiarities of the Vologda Region, its development, work of the management system, interaction of government with business and communications with the population. He also shared his personal experience.
