Georgy Filimonov launched the "Winter of the Russian North" project.

A large-scale project "Winter of the Russian North" was launched on the initiative of Governor Georgy Filimonov. Numerous events covering different genres and styles of music, crafts and theatre will be held within the framework of the "Winter of the Russian North" project.
Vologda's residents and guests of the Vologda Region will actively participate in over 700 events - cultural and sports festivals, theatre performances, forums, master-classes, fairs, and other holiday events. The "Winter of the Russian North" project started on December 1 and it will last till February 28.
This winter Vologda will host Governor's Christmas tree parties, New Year's celebrations, Troika ride competition ( a sleigh pulled by a trio of three horses), a festival "In the snows of Kirillov", a weeklong celebration of Russian culture - Maslenitsa festival, to name but a few.
