Unity Day is a national holiday in Russia held on November 4. This day has gone down in history as a day of unity of the people. Its origins go very far back to important events in the Russian history.
The date commemorates the events of 1612 when Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky formed volunteer corps that went on to liberate Moscow from the Polish-Lithuanian interventionist forces.
This holiday gives us an opportunity to feel like a united nation with a common historical destiny and a common future. It stresses the main strength of our state - the unity of the people.
The history of the Motherland proves that the unity of the Russian people is the key to great victories and strong, sovereign future. This principle is the basis of our common movement forward.
