On September 22^nd, a delegation of Vologda’s experts led by Kirill Toropov, head of the Economic Development Department participated in the Russian-Chinese Forum arranged at the Greenwood Business Park in Moscow. The delegation from Vologda was invited by President of the Greenwood Business Park in Moscow Cai Guiru.

To begin with, the Governor inspected a new traffic signal which had recently been opened in one of the settlements in the outskirts of Cherepovets. A new traffic light system is due to improve journey times for drivers and to minimise queuing. The traffic lights will control the flow of vehicles and pedestrians to improve safety and access to roads.

The birch bark manuscript dating from the 14^th century was found in Vologda. It produced a furore in the audience at the international scientific conference “Complex Approach to Study of Ancient Russia”. About 200 scholars from eight countries of the world participated in it.

The Czech experts in health care system came to Vologda to get acquainted with Vologda’s medical institutions and public health care.

This important event brought together professionals from leading mining and metals companies. The main event was held in Moscow on September 17th with an optional second day visiting a Severstal metallurgical plant in Cherepovets on September 18th.

On September 25-30 over 100,000 film lovers in over 250 cities across six continents gather in cinemas, museums and universities for one purpose to view and vote on the Finalists' Films in the 18th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the Forum. The emphasis of the forum was on the Union State’s industrial policy, common approaches and regional aspects. Participants included the heads of the Russian Federation Council and State Duma, the Republic Council and House of Representatives of Belarus, the Union State Standing Committee, heads of key ministries and agencies, regional executive and legislative heads from both countries, and representatives from big business and public and scientific organisations.

The Vologda optical-and-mechanical plant manufactures optical-electronic and thermal imaging products for the defense industry and optical-electronic devices of medical and civil designation. It offers rifle scopes, night vision rifle scopes, mounts for rifle scopes, mounts for night vision rifle scopes, side support mounts with lath, transient laths, magnifiers, devices for forest management and topographic works, cooking equipment, and medical equipment.
