Vologda Oblast Governor took part in a meeting of heads of regions of Russia’s North-West in St. Petersburg.

The meeting was chaired by Nikolai Tsukanov, Plenipotentiary Presidential Representative in the North Western Federal District.

On October 18th Deputy Governor Alexei Kozhevnikov met with entrepreneurs of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony, Germany).

The meeting was organized within the framework of the visit of Lower Saxony's Economy, Labour and Transport Minister Olaf Lies to Russia. It was agreed to hold such a meeting in August 2016 when Deputy Governor Alexei Kozhevnikov went to Bad Pyrmont, Germany at the invitation of the Honorary Consul of Russian Federation in Hannover. The main objective of the visit was to participate in a German-Russian economic conference aimed at improving the efficiency of Russian-German economic cooperation, expansion of direct official and business contacts, exchange of experience in the sphere of economy and investments.

Russia's Ded Moroz will celebrate his birthday on 18 November in his home city Veliky Ustyug.

According to a newly created legend, Ded Moroz was born on November 18th in Veliky Ustyug, a small town in the Vologda region. The date of the magician's birthday was chosen by weather chart makers as their long-term observations register that on that very day the ground of Veliky Ustyug is usually covered with a heavy snow blanket. No one knows his exact age. Although experts insist his career began more than 150 years ago, the first mentions of his appearance in noble Russian families on Christmas and New Year eve date back to the beginning of the 19th century.

Mr. Kuvshinnikov participated in a regional State Council session

The Regional State Council is an advisory body to the Governor, which deals with issues of the highest importance to the region as a whole.

Einar Steen-Nøkleberg, a leading Norwegian pianist, president of the Oslo Grieg Society gave a concert in Vologda on October 16.
