A press breakfast was held as part of a series of meetings of Vologda’s journalists with top leadership of the Vologda Oblast Government.
“Rendezvous with Russia”, a three-day international film festival, will be opened on December 7-9 in the Vologda Region, featuring around 30 Russian and foreign films, documentaries and animated movies. The festival hopes to boost tourism in the region, hosting round table discussions to debate the future of the local tourist industry.
The 8th VOICES Film Festival ended on the 7th of July. The Closing Ceremony was held in the "Lenkom" cinema. The Jury deliberated and named the Winning Film, receiving the Grand Prize. This year it is the film by Fien Troch "Home" (Belgium).
Every year the International Festival of the Young European Cinema VOICES takes place in Vologda. VOICES Festival is supported by the Vologda Oblast Governor, Vologda City administration, and the RF Ministry of Culture. Only in summer 2017 VOICES festival moved from Vologda to St. Petersburg. The organizers of the festival expanded the geography of the event.

Vologda has turned 871 and thrown a 3 day party to celebrate.
On June 30 the old Russian city of Vologda turned 871. To celebrate the occasion, Vologda's authorities extended the annual City Day (which falls on the last weekend in June) into a three-day celebration. Numerous events took place at dozens of venues across the city from 29 June to 1July.
RAEX Ranking Agency (Expert RA) made a ranking list of best schools in Russia. The Vologda multi-discipline lyceum and Cherepovets school # 10 joined the TOP best schools in terms of competitive advantage of their graduates.
The festival is aimed at popularization of folk arts and handicrafts among the younger generation. It will be arranged with an active backing of the Vologda City Administration and a Handicrafts Centre “Reznoi Palisad (Carved Fence)”.
