The festival "Voices of History" that emerged in 1991 as a review of the performances of professional theatres in the historical and architectural ensemble of the unique environment of the Vologda Kremlin has long been a hallmark of the Vologda Region, a favourite festival of all theatre-goers.
Over centuries, the Vologda Region was a link between medieval Europe and Old Russia, a unique ‘door’ to Europe and a centre of international integration and trade.

This year sees the 77th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. A meeting of the local government officials devoted to celebration of the 77th anniversary since victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Vologda on April 21.
St. George Ribbon campaign to distribute black-and-orange ribbons - a symbol of the victory in World War II – will start in Vologda on April 26th.

Sowing campaign has started in the Vologda Region.
According to head of the region Oleg Kuvshinnikov, all agricultural organizations and farms of the region are ready for sowing campaign. The Vologda Region is actively developing dairy farming, plant growing and horticulture. The seed stock of the Vologda Region is made up of potatoes, cereals, fiber flax and perennial grasses.
The International Lace Festival VITA LACE collects everything related to the world of linen industry: fabrics, clothes, textile, souvenirs, as well as looms, spinning machines and accessories.
The competition is held under the patronage of Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
