Zakharov’s batik won in the nomination “Art Painting”. The work of art, an elegant coffee painting depicting the Church of the Entry into Jerusalem in Tot’ma, Vologda Region was painted in 2014.
On May 3rd Vologda was visited by the Honorary Chairman of the International Council of Russian Countrymen, chairman of the Russian Musical Society in Paris, president of the Paris Russian Conservatory named after S. Rakhmaninov, co-founder and vice-president of Russian Parties of Europe and the International Association “European Russian Alliance” - the count Pyotr Sheremetev.
On May 2nd, a delegation from Switzerland led Mr. Filippo Lombardi, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Russia-Switzerland at Swiss Federal Parliament arrived in Vologda to discuss guidelines for cooperation between the Vologda Region and Switzerland. This was a three-day duration visit.

The International Museum Day is celebrated annually on and around May 18. The purpose of the holiday is to draw public attention to the importance and the role of the museums in the life of an individual and the society as a whole.
