Vologda-born Andrey Zaytsev and Anna Kuzminskaya won at the 2015 WDSF PD World DanceSport Championship Latin that took place in Dresden, Germany.

The 2015 PD World Latin was held as part of the Saxonian Dance Classics at the Maritim Hotel - International Congress Centre in Dresden, Germany, on November 7-8. 47 couples representing 25 nations entered the World Championship.

Russia's Ded Moroz who lives in the forest 11 km off Veliky Ustyug (Vologda Oblast) will celebrate his birthday on 18 November in his home city.

According to a newly created legend, Ded Moroz was born on November 18th in Veliky Ustyug, a small town in the Vologda region. The date of the magician's birthday was chosen by weather chart makers as their long-term observations register that on that very day the ground of Veliky Ustyug is usually covered with a heavy snow blanket. No one knows his exact age. Although experts insist his career began more than 150 years ago, the first mentions of his appearance in noble Russian families on Christmas and New Year eve date back to the beginning of the 19th century.

Vologda, Cherepovets and Kirillov will become home to XIII International drama festival "Voices of History" from June 23 throughout June 29, 2015.

The festival will be held with an active backing of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation. The Voices of History is organized jointly with the RF Ministry of Culture, the Vologda Oblast Government and the administration of Vologda City.

About 250,000 visitors from Russia and abroad attended the Vologda Lace Museum over the last five years.

Established in autumn 2010, the Lace Museum was visited by 250,000 people interested in lace-making. The museum hosts several expositions in nearly 600 sq m of exhibition space. The exhibition extends over two levels and covers all ages of lace-making from the early 17th century - showcasing gorgeous and rare hand-made designs, to later industrial production and through to contemporary lace presented in haute couture.
