Deputy Governor Alexei Sherlygin has arrived in Slovakia on a three-day duration visit.

It has become customary for Vologda's officials to take part in celebrations pertaining to the triumphant end of the Carpathian-Dukla Campaign. The current visit is timed to coincide with the 71th anniversary of the campaign, one of the fiercest battles of World War II aiming to liberate Europe from the German fascists.

Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Director General of PhosAgro-Cherepovets Andrey Guryev signed an agreement on granting investment privileges for new production facilities construction in Cherepovets.

18th inter-regional exhibition “My own house” has started working in Vologda today.

“My own house” is a building and construction exhibition that is held in Vologda annually. A lot of exhibitors and visitors come to Vologda to attend the exhibition to see the variety of houses made of timber and logs and frame-panel houses. Experts from the world of timber industry state their positions on current issues at meetings, workshops and press conferences, and discuss problems and prospects in their own particular fields – design, construction and exploitation of wooden houses.

Alexander Belyaev, a Vologda-born swimmer, won a bronze medal at the the 2015 International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports (IWAS) Games, Sochi.

The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) has been holding World Games since 1948 among athletes with musculoskeletal system disorders. For the first time the Games were held in Russia at sports facilities in Sochi.

Vologda’s families will get finances for the third and subsequent children from federal budget.

On October 1, 2015 Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a document on support for family programmes. According to it, 53 Russian Region, the Vologda Region among them, will get an extra RUR 820 mln from the federal budget.
