Severstal will provide the bow of the icebreaker Rossiya with bimetal

Severstal received a tender for the production and supply of 1,363 tons of bimetallic steel for the outer skin of the bow of the hull of the lead nuclear-powered icebreaker “Rossiya” of project 10 510. This was reported by the press service of the mining and metallurgical company.
Bimetal supplied by Severstal will be used for ice protection of nuclear icebreaker Rossiyaa reinforced lower hull that directly resists ice.
“The first and only icebreaker up to this point with such a solid bimetal ice belt was the nuclear-powered icebreaker 50 Years of Victory, launched in 1993.” is indicated in the message.
The full volume of bimetal will be produced at mill 5000 of the sheet-rolling shop in Kolpino, using a new batch rolling method.
