MOSCOW, June 5. /TASS/. Russian adventurer Fedor Konyukhov and professional sports pilot Igor Potapkin embarked on a record-breaking flight on a two-seat motorized paraglider from the Russian city of Arkhangelsk to Novorossiisk, according to the official website of Konyukhov.
"Today, on June 5, 2022 at 3:30 in the morning, a unique trans-continental flight with the use of motorized paragliders was launched in support of the Clean Arctic federal project," the statement reads.
According to earlier reports, Konyukhov and Potapkin planned to book a record-breaking flight covering the distance in two and a half weeks from the Russian city of Arkhangelsk to Novorossiisk using a two-seat motorized paraglider.
They plan to cover a distance of 3,000 kilometers (over 1,864 miles) flying over the Russian cities of Plesetsk, Vologda, Yaroslavl, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Moscow, Tula, Voronezh and Krasnodar.
The longest stretch of their journey without a landing envisages a distance of up to 500 kilometers to beat the previous world record of 427 kilometers set by Krzysztof Romicki of Poland in 2018.
