VOICES: the 6th edition

The VOICES Festival will take place from July 3th to 6th, 2015 in the beautiful Russian city of Vologda.
Like you all probably know, since 2010 VOICES has become an essential event for all European and Russian independent cinema lovers. Hundreds of guests and films, dozens of concerts and workshops were welcomed by Vologda all along these years.
In 2015, for a wide variety of reasons, the 6th edition of VOICES was suspended - but thanks to our team persistence, the support of the regional government, the city administration, our private partners and mainly - the Vologda public - this year the festival will be maintained. This time VOICES will be smaller but it will stay true to its values: freedom of expression, cultural dialog, tolerance and curiosity.
Same as in 5 previous years, VOICES will welcome the newest European movies and popular foreign and Russian filmmakers. The competition will gather 8 first and second feature films from all across Europe. One of the most important guests of the 6th edition of VOICES will be Krzysztof Zanussi, a Polish film and theatre director, producer and screenwriter. He will present his new film "Obce cialo” and a personally-selected Polish cinema program.
A film critic and journalist Sergey Sholohov and a famous director Nana Dzhordzhadze will be among the VOICES international jury. By the way, our festival wouldn’t happen without their strong support. The other names of the members and the President of Jury will be announced soon.
We have only 2 months left before the Festival, but despite of all difficulties our team stays positive. Our program directors - Markus Duffner and Roman Dorofeev - have almost selected films for the main competition. As always we are preparing different workshops, interesting exhibitions and the traditional Picnic. The full event program will be announced in June.
