Greaseproof paper and sack paper production
Sokolskiy Pulp and Paper Mill is one of the oldest pulp and paper mills in Russia. It was commissioned in December 1899. The mill is located in Vologda Region and makes 25,000 tonnes a year of sack paper and greaseproof paper.
Sokolskiy Pulp and Paper Mill only uses softwood chips to make cellulose. Before being used in the production process, the raw material is checked for quality, fractional composition, presence of bark, admixtures and moisture content.
The main type of paper that the mill makes today is grade P unbleached greaseproof paper with a density of 40–52 g per square metre. This type of paper is used as food packaging and is made from environmentally clean raw materials. Sokolskiy Pulp and Paper Mill also makes sack paper with a density of 70–90 g per square metre as well as grade E liquid production lignosulfonate.
History
Since 2014, Sokolskiy Pulp and Paper Mill has been a subsidiary of Segezha Group.
In November 2019, the Russian National award Productivity: Russian Industry Leaders 2019 ranked Sokol Pulp and Paper Mill in the TOP-100 leaders in terms of the growth in productivity in Russia over the past 5 years.
In August 2020, Sokolskiy Pulp and Paper Mill launched a new shop for making powder lignosulfonates that are used in the production of industry-grade carbon, in the petrochemical industry, in metal casting, in the production of cement, as well as in road construction. The new production line can put out 21,000 tonnes of product per year.
