Severstal Distribution recognized as employee-friendly company

Severstal Distribution was recognized as an employee-friendly company at the 8th national Employee-Friendly Employer contest in Poland. The contest is organised by Poland’s largest trade union “Solidarity”, it is supported by the President of Poland.
The contest aims to improve a dialogue between employers and employees and support rights of employees. The contest promotes businesses that are leaders in compliance with the labor law: create stable jobs, apply best safety practices, respect the right of employees for to join trade unions. Twenty companies from different economy sectors are chosen to be awarded basing on the results of the nationwide competition. Andrey Alexeyev, Head of the Distribution Network, said: “Severstal Distribution was awarded with the Employee-Friendly certificate because of our good business traditions and best practices of successful social dialogue. Employees’ safety is our top priority and we do not have any accident at work for last two years. We work closely with trade unions whose proposals are always taken into consideration. In addition, we have had a Collective Employment Agreement with our employees since 2010.”
The company Severstal Distribution Sp. z o.o. was established in 2008 as a subsidiary of the same-named company in Latvia. It is currently a part of the Severstal Distribution group. The company produces thin-wall welded structural tubes and water-gas pipes, and distributes steel products. Severstal Distribution Sp. z o.o. employs 150 people.
As a result of Severstal Distribution Sp. z o.o. successful operations, sales from the Distribution Network of Severstal Russian Steel division to Eastern Europe amounted to 163 thousand tonnes in 2014, and for the first nine months of 2015 increased y-o-y by 44% to 190 thousand tonnes.
