The historical fiction movie with the working title "Journey to Santa Claus", currently in production of the "Avatar Film" and "Wilton Film" companies, may contribute interest to the city of Veliky Ustyug.
The cities of Vologda and Veliky Ustyug have already been visited by the film writers and the film director Tatiana Rachmanova for sight-seeing and location seeking purposes.
The concept of the film originated at the summer 2010 Vologda Festival of European Film "VOICES", and its production is supported by the Vologda city government and the French company "ID Reel". The main character who is traveling to Veliky Ustyug to meet Santa Claus, is going to be played by the popular French actor Pierre Richard. Richard plans to begin shooting in the Vologda area at the end of February. The resulting film, which runs approximately 52 minutes, will be shown on main television channels in Russia and France.
